Opening Exhibition Noor Boiten: 'The Future is Under Construction'

In this multimedia installation, artist Noor Boiten (1999) takes you on a special journey of discovery. The central question is: How can digital spaces, such as the internet, help us to be more ourselves?

You travel in an imaginary world, which originates from Boiten's personal search for their gender identity. The video figures you encounter along the way represent the freedom that the digital world can offer. Especially for Generation Z (people born between approximately 1997 and 2012) places on the internet, such as forums and online games, have been important for their self-development.

Boiten discovered that in the digital world you can always and at any time change your identity and persona. The title of the work refers to a vision of the future that is literally and figuratively still in the making: a digital world in which everyone has complete freedom to be who they want to be.

The opening is free for everyone. Artist Noor Boiten will be present, as well as the new chairman of the museum board Maarten Pel.

Gooise Pride Month
The entire month of October 2024 is Gooise Pride Month, which is organized by Stichting Gooi & Vecht Inclusief. During this month, numerous events, exhibitions and other activities are organized in Hilversum and the surrounding municipalities around the celebration and acceptance of the LHBTIQ+ community. Both the opening of The Future is Under Construction and the Podium MH are part of Gooise Pride Month.

De opening on October 5th starts at 2 PM (walk-in from 1.30 PM).

Podium MH: Queer identiteit in beeld
The day after the opening, on Sunday 6 October, there will be a special Podium MH with Noor Boiten and photographer Marian Bakker about 'Queer identity in images'. The two artists will talk about their own work and discuss capturing the queer community, and its development, over multiple generations. This Podium MH is from 2 PM to 3.30 PM and is accessible with a regular entrance ticket. Read more about this here.
